Junior Reyna Levine is awarded PRAXIS and Sylvia Berger Fund

April 11, 2010

Reyna is currently enjoying her JYA (junior year abroad) in Isreal. She has been having an excellent time and plans to spend her summer working with an artist in Tel Aviv named Michal Heima on a special individual photography project as well as interning for Michal, digitizing her archives, scanning negatives, editing texts in english, and helping her prepare for exhibitions at her studio in downtown Tel Aviv. With the help of PRAXIS and the Sylvia Berger fund for Jewish majors, Reyna will be able to stay in Tel Aviv until the beginning of August!

The Sylvia Berger fund awards grants of up to $3000 to students for intensive summer Hebrew language study, summer courses at Israeli universities, thesis research, and service internship opportunities during the summer of 2010 in Israel.

The Praxis program allows every Smith student the opportunity to elect an internship funded by the college. The program gives each Smith sophomore or junior access to a one-time $2,000 stipend that ensures she can afford to participate in a summer internship that draws on her academic background and builds on her career goals.
