Smith Sets Records in Strong Showing Against Wellesley

Though Wellesley walked away with the overall win (165-128), the Smith swimming and diving team performed well, recording 8 lifetime-best times and 13 season-best times.

Junior Lily Seidman (Westfield, IN) won both the 200 fly and 200 backstroke with times of 2:19.54 and 2:18.52, respectively.  Additionally, her time of 1:01.94 in the 100 fly was one of the team’s 13 season-bests.  Sophomore Alexandra Page (Brookline, MA) also had a great showing today, accounting for 2 more of the team’s season-best times.  She posted a 1:06.46 mark in the 100 backstroke, which she won, and 2:22.61 in the 200 backstroke.

Another key swimmer for Smith today was first year Mackenzie Bradley (Sherwood, OR), who finished 2nd in both the 500 and 1000 freestyle events.  Her times of 5:35.68 and 11:27.13 were both lifetime bests.

On the diving end, first year Isabelle Harper (South Deerfield, MA) won the 1 meter event with a personal best score of 190.10.  Harper also finished 2nd in the 3 meter event with a score of 198.55, another personal best.

The Pioneers are back in the pool next weekend when they take part in the Seven Sisters meet at Mount Holyoke College.
